Her husband, the Royal leader of his bloodline, Jin Park, perishes in the aftermath protecting those he loves within the family home. Their children are left orphaned with a well meaning but strict and old fashioned grandfather to guide them.
Understanding what their grandfather really intends, the children swiftly rebel and rally their comrades. Chae, the eldest of the children wrestles with her reluctance to lead, although fully qualified and able. Tae, the younger of the two twins, struggles with his perceived incompetence and guilt, having lived his entire life in his big sister's shadow, watching her suffer and protect him since birth. And Sebastian, the youngest and still a toddler, is the catalyst, but he'll eventually grow up and never remember much at all.
A horrific discovery of Jin Park's killers, shakes the foundation of what is right and wrong within the Park bloodline. Upon recognizing one of the rapidly perishing murderers, Chae realizes that the young man is under obligation from a much darker force and saves his life.
Still grieving and confused, Chae blindly moves forward with funeral plans, attempting to achieve a logical resolution regarding all the members of the bloodline and the deaths of her parents. Her younger brother Tae, always observant from watching the world from Chae's shadow, makes a freak discovery amidst all the disorder. Both brother and sister realise that all the deaths and unfortunate events are connected, and that the unity of all twelve bloodlines are required to eliminate the pressing threat.
However, at the funeral of the acknowledged and respectful leaders of the Park bloodline, they realise that the young heirs of all the bloodlines have their own problems to deal with. Persuading the other heirs that the threat is real is a feat upon itself. The other bloodlines, believe the Park bloodline to be momentarily weak and although sympathetic, eye chances to exact vengeance from the past.
Suddenly in the span of two weeks, the Park bloodline considered to be one of the most stable has collapsed upon itself, invented rumors of an implausible threat and is in the perfect position to exterminate completely.
